British Entrepreneurs Launch ‘Online Shop’

Meet Terry McGinnis and Joe Todd two British entrepreneurs who are founders of one of UK’s most popular online outlets, Cozy.

The two founders have been on an incredible journey over the last several years and have seen a massive success with their Cozy venture, however the pair have noticed an incredibly slow shift into ‘digital’ with the recent COVID-19 pandemic and outbreak. They have built out an incredible team and are on-track to acquire more than 10,000 customers by end of April.

The pair decided to help solidify a solution to a big problem; remove the obstacles most businesses and people face when opening an online shop.

“We’ve seen businesses not having the knowledge or know-how of shifting their strategy into a digitally based solution – a lot of them just don’t know how to do it, or find it too difficult. We’ve done a lot of user testing, we’ve looked at data and trends we have collected over the years. We saw that on average, most users get frustrated with the process of setting up their own online shop.” Said Dr. Torin Cannings, PhD. of Cozy and Online Shop.

Beautifully simple” is the sentence used to describe Online Shop by Sam Watola, Creative Director at Cozy and Online Shop.

“We decided to do something out of the ordinary, remove all the fluff of our competitors and provide a standardized solution to e-commerce. No clunky menus, no difficult overlays and no UI-based faux pas. We’re fully focused on a standardized process; register, add products and off you go! We designed the service to be as easily accessible as possible for the average consumer. And so far the feedback we received has been tremendous.”

So far Online Shop has been seen as a saving grace for many British based businesses who have a lot of stock and due to lock-downs are unable to open up their doors to the general public.

“We have seen so much positive feedback from customers and users – it has been absolutely incredible. We always wanted to open up our technology and processes to the general public and found the time to launch was now. Very proud of the whole team and what they have achieved in such a short amount of time.” Said Terry McGinnis Co-Founder and current Chief Executive Officer of Online Shop, and Chief Technology Officer of Cozy.

Rhys Pereira, Head of Operations at Cozy and Online Shop stated “This has been such an incredible project to be behind, from the start we’ve known we were onto something very very special and rare. The most rewarding part is the feedback we receive from everyone, we haven’t had a single complaint yet!”

Online Shop seems to be on track to compete with the likes of Wix, Shopify and Squarespace. Could it be the next unicorn to come out of Britain which hasn’t seen that many unicorns?

“We’re readily available to take on the big conglomerates from North America. We’ve been there, done that. We’re focusing on democratizing e-commerce, not bloating it and more importantly helping our local community. Our product offering and customers come first, money is very far down the list of things we’re trying to ‘get’, we’re not a company which pursues profits, we’re a company which pursues solutions.” Said Joe Todd Co-Founder and current Chief Executive Officer of Cozy, and Chief Marketing Officer of Online Shop.
