Users of social media app Instagram have been reporting issues with some of the platforms main functions. Issues reported include being unable to use the search function or effectively access the explore tab. It doesn’t seem as though the main news feed or messaging functions were affected by the outage.
Facebook and Whatsapp, who are owned by the same umbrella company, seem to have been unaffected.
Down detector, the online website tracker, noted a spike in people reporting issues overnight, with over 1,800 reports made just before 9:30pm. It also seems that the majority of issues reported were from Western Europe.
This latest outage comes after similar problems were reported two weeks ago and may indicate that a broader outage is to come as has been the case previously. At this time, though, there is no evidence of issues in other areas of the app.
Instagram have not commented on the problems experienced by their users due to the latest technical difficulties.
