“Lab-On-A-Chip” Corona Test Gives Results In 90 Mins

Reports are coming in of a rapid test that can accurately diagnose a COVID infection within 90 minutes without needing a laboratory, scientists say.

Imperial College London are claiming a study has showed “lab-on-a-chip” gave comparable results to current tests.

Promising signs indeed, with the lab chip being used in several NHS hospitals already to quickly figure out who’s carrying the virus.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows though, experts are putting out warnings that the kit WILL NOT be a solution to the struggling Test and Trace programme.

The wonder-device is created by the company DnaNudge, and it can be used by taking a swab of the throat and nasal passage.

The swab is then carefully placed inside a disposable cartridge which contains the chemicals necessary for the test. It’s then slotted into a shoe-box sized machine to carry out the analysis.

This seems like a promising step in our fight against this torrid disease effecting lives the world over. Let’s stay vigilant people!
